STOP OVER DEVELOPMENT

For far too long, our County Commissioners, and Sarah Heard in particular, have rubber-stamped out-of-control growth, benefiting big developers, while diminishing the quality of life for all Martin County residents.

As the president of the Lost River Home Owners Association and as a longtime resident of Martin County, I have spoken to hundreds of residents over the years who oppose the direction our County is headed as far as development is concerned, and I feel compelled to do all that I can to stop it.

Martin County residents enjoy living here because our county is one of the few remaining counties on the East Coast of Florida with minimal commercial development. I intend to keep it that way. Small, incremental residential growth is inevitable, and I support that. But big development projects like the one in Port Salerno have led to a slippery slope that will only increase population density and create dangerous traffic conditions for our fellow residents. I have attended numerous commission meetings over the years to make this case, especially regarding the new development at the Lost River traffic intersection, but the commission has ignored my concerns.

It's time to elect County Commissioners who actually listen to the people they represent. And it's time for new leadership in District 4.
